Getting
Around the Airport
The
Sydney Airport International terminal is open from 4:30
a.m. until 11:30 p.m. each day, depending on flights.
The
Travelers Information Service in the international terminal
(Tel: +61-2 9669-5111)
opens daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., and can arrange for local hotel rooms at
special rates. Visitors can make a free local call to arrange for hostel accommodation,
too.
A
visitors passing through Sydney Airport will feel immediately
at ease. English signboards are placed at strategic locations
around the airport, and information counter staff are on
hand to give directions. Staff are trained to handle any
questions visitors may have, and informative brochures,
city maps, and guidebooks can be found at these counters.
Baggage
allowance varies with each airline for size, types, and
weight, with an overall restriction applying to baggage
over 30 kg. It is advisable to check with the airline you
are flying with.
Baggage
trolleys are available from the trolley bays on both Arrival
and Departure levels for A$2. If, however, you are coming
into the country, they are available free of charge from
the Customs/baggage collection hall. Generally, there aren't
any porters at the airport, but your hotel may arrange
for pick-up and assign a hotel staff to assist with your
baggage.
